At FreeMind Therapy, we offer direct billing for many extended health benefit providers. Direct billing helps you focus on getting support rather than managing claims.
Due to the sometimes overwhelming process of submitting claims to insurance and waiting for reimbursement, our intention is to remove that barrier and make therapy easier and more accessible.
Access therapy without reimbursement delays.
How Direct Billing Works
Direct billing is the process of your counselling provider submitting a claim for your counselling session to your insurance provider on your behalf. Instead of paying the full fee and waiting for reimbursement, the insurance company you are with pays the covered portion directly to FreeMind Therapy.
Depending on your plan, the full fee for your counselling sessions may be covered OR your insurance plan may cover part of the fee (leaving you to pay the remaining balance on your credit card). Remember: You can write that portion off as a health expense on your year-end taxes!
It’s important to note, that coverage is determined by your individual insurance policy including, yearly limits and provider requirements.
How the process works:
- Tell us your Insurance Provider name in the contact form or during your free counselling consultation.
- We’ll send you a Consent Form via Jane.app to provide all your insurance details.
- The morning of your session we will submit the claim directly to your insurer.
- If there is any remaining balance, we will charge your credit card on file.
No claim submission forms. No waiting weeks for reimbursement.
If You Are Unsure About Coverage
We understand that some clients may be unsure what their benefits include, which is completely normal. We can help obtain some coverage details when available by submitting a predetermination online for you. However, it is important to note that it remains your responsibility to understand your plan including coverage limits, the designation your provider must have, remaining balances, and eligibility.
Your insurance provider determines how much is covered and any amount that is not covered will be charged to you. To avoid any surprises and have accurate information, we recommend confirming coverage details with your provider before the day of your first session. You can call the number listed on the back of your insurance card, log into your benefits portal, or ask your work’s HR department.
Some questions to ask your Insurance:
- What provider do I have coverage for? (Social Worker, Registered Clinical Counsellor, Psychotherapist, etc.)
- How much is covered per session, and per year?
- How much coverage remains for this year?
- Is there an initial deductible I must pay before benefits kick in this year?
