We at FreeMind Therapy, value growth and lifelong learning. And counselling can be instrumental to well being.

But what about between therapy sessions, or after you complete your goals in therapy?

Knowing where to turn for helpful resources, during the trials of life is necessary. Here are a few Canadian resources to get you started.

Crisis Lines 

Urgent Care

  • Local major hospitals – they usually have a Psychiatrist or a Psychiatric Registered Nurse on shift who can assess your needs when in crisis. Just go through the Emergency entrance.

Free Counselling

Grief & Loss

  • Bereavement Helpline: Free services & groups for anyone impacted by the loss of a loved one, or loss by suicide, homicide, substance use or pet loss.
  • Grief Support Group: The Canadian Mental Health Association offers many services to help those in need of support. Search for help in your area.

Recovery & Relapse Prevention

  • Need help now? Google “Rapid Access Addiction Clinic” in your area – many Canadian cities have one, and are equipped with expert physicians, nurses, and counsellors to get you what you need, without delay.
  • Alcoholics Anonymous: Information on drinking. Find a support group near you.
  • Narcotics Anonymous: Connect with others who understand the struggle – gain the resilience you want
  • Al-Anon: Support groups for loved ones of an alcoholic

Queer Support Resources 

  • Lesbian Gay Bi Trans Youth Line: Providing peer-support for LGBTQ+ youth (29 and under). Provides peer support through the phone, text, and live chat, as well as referrals and information. Toll Free: 1-888-687-9688

  • Qmunity: A queer, trans and two-spirit resource centre. Check out their mental health support resources and support groups.
