EXPERIENCE
I am a Registered Social Worker with a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Victoria and a Master’s in Social Work from Dalhousie University. I have over 20 years of social work experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds and experiences. I have worked different roles in varying setting, including private practice, Provincial Mental Health and Substance Use, Community Mental Health, Indigenous Communities, Provincial Child Advocate and legal advocacy roles.
As a Métis from the Treaty 6 territory in Saskatchewan and MNS, I have served in various roles within Indigenous communities. Through my own personal journey, I have found the value of healing through culture.
I also live with inattentive ADHD. I consider it to be both my superpower and my kryptonite (depending on the day) 🙂
MORE THAN JUST MY WORK . . .
I am passionate about travelling, having visited a number of countries for extended vacations and lived in a number of cities across Canada. Immersing myself in other cultural experiences is one of my favourite things! I enjoy camping and hiking on the weekends. I appreciate spending time with friends and family going to plays, farmers markets live music, etc. To recharge my batteries, I enjoy reading, documentaries, cooking and movies.
My favourite quote is “Anything that is ‘wrong’ with you began as a survival mechanism in childhood” – Gabor Mate
