ABOUT ME

You may have found yourself caught in patterns that keep repeating, no matter how hard you try to break free. Old trauma surfaces in your relationships, in the way you respond to stress, or in the moments where you feel most stuck. Maybe the complexity of your life has become hard to manage, or you are facing real challenges at work, burnout, harassment, or a sense that something needs to shift. You are wondering who you can actually turn to.

That is what I am here for. I will meet you where you are, listen without judgment, and help you make sense of what you are carrying. Healing is not one single moment. It is the ongoing work of building new insight, replacing patterns that no longer serve you, and developing a fuller understanding of yourself and the world around you.

In our work together, you will find that doing the courageous work of therapy is both challenging and deeply rewarding. My approach is mindfulness-based and holistic, grounded in transparency, respect, patience and compassionate understanding. Together we will build a treatment plan tailored specifically to you, and revisit it regularly to make sure it is working.

EXPERIENCE

I hold a Masters in Gender Studies and a Masters in Social Work with a clinical counselling specialization from the University of Northern BC. I am interested in cross-cultural relationship building, cultural humility and safety, violence prevention, healthy relationships, and addiction recovery management.

Throughout the past 13 years as a therapist I have facilitated mental health and addiction programs, and worked as a mental health first responder in settings such as hospital emergency, police and community services. I have provided therapeutic support for many people across a broad spectrum of life circumstances and challenges.

As a young person, I immigrated with my family from Germany to Canada and have come to love this country with its diverse cultures and landscapes. Following years of creative pursuits and gathering diverse life and work experiences – including as a tree planter roaming the BC wilderness, working at the Vancouver downtown SPCA, participating in building the National Women’s Monument ‘Marker of Change’ located in Vancouver. Through these experiences, I came to deeply value notions of anti-oppression, social justice and the transformative power of self-mobilization and grassroots initiatives.

MORE THAN JUST MY WORK . . .

I value connecting with family and friends, working out at the gym, playing with my cats Tigger and Moi. I love taking long walks through the wildly beautiful landscapes of the BC southern interior while listening to the sounds of nature. All of these activities deeply nourish my sense of wellness and belonging.
