About the group

TOPIC: Practical Tools for Self-Regulation & Healing

Our 8-week all-virtual Group Therapy for Indigenous peoples offers you a supportive environment to learn practical tools for effectively managing difficult emotions, stress, the effects of trauma, and everyday challenges. Group Therapy has a special way of building your empowerment, resilience & wellness within both individuals & communities.

Your sessions will be facilitated using a secure, Zoom-like platform, by a master-level counsellor, trained and experienced in providing culturally safe mental health care for Indigenous people. The approach will combine space for exploration of your own cultural forms of healing, along with Mindfulness, Somatic therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and more. Each session is designed to be interactive, with a blend of group discussions, personal reflection, psycho-education and in-session healing activities you can choose to take part in. Our intention is that you connect in a way that is meaningful & transformative for you, and walk away after 8-weeks with strategies that you can utilize in your life right away and for years to come.

*** Group will be facilitated by a non-Indigenous therapist. Please note that FreeMind Therapy has consulted with an Indigenous leader in the community to support our program so that we can offer the best care possible for participants.

Group Therapy Intake Form

not quite sure if virtual group therapy is a fit for you?

No problem! Connect with our Clinic Coordinator who will answer any questions you have and help you decide if it’s the right thing for you. Sometimes it can feel scary to think about sharing deeply personal things in a group of strangers online. We totally get that!

In our virtual Group Therapy for Indigenous peoples, sharing with each other and supporting each other can be an empowering experience. However, we take extra measure to ensure you feel safe to share and also safe to keep your thoughts to yourself too! Sometimes you may be asked for your thoughts, but everyone has full autonomy to decline to share if they don’t feel led to. In addition, all members must commit to respecting confidentiality throughout the program.

Simply fill out the form above, and ask for a Discovery Call for the Indigenous Group Therapy.  Or you can give us a call directly (604-337-8577) or send us an email (info@freemindtherapy.ca).

If you determine Group Therapy is not a fit, we’ll happily provide you with options for accessing counselling and mental health care outside of group therapy.
