what is the between sessions care support program?

Have you ever felt the need for some extra accountability or care support between sessions? There are so many reasons why this support is necessary for some.

Sometimes life gets extremely busy, or you’re just starting therapy and need help to feel better sooner than later, or perhaps you just need a check-in to offer that extra care during your healing journey.

The Care Support Program was designed to help our Indigenous clients feel extra supported while journeying through the therapy and healing experience. It’s meant to connect you with resources, and be there for you on those tougher days.

If you’re not Indigenous, and you need support between sessions, this program is open to you too!

Support between sessions is here to improve your therapy outcomes.

Having Care Support Check-in’s from a masters-level Care Support Intern, means you can focus more time in-session with your therapist, working toward your goals.

What does care support look like?

FREQUENCY:

Care Support Check-in’s can happen weekly or bi-weekly, between sessions.

WHO OFFERS IT

A hand-selected counselling Intern at FreeMind, who is completing their masters degree will meet with you for Care Support Check-in’s.

HOW IT HAPPENS

Care Support Check-in’s typically happen between sessions, by phone, in the format of 15 minute calls. However, this can occur by Video or email if deemed appropriate.

WHAT HAPPENS

A Care Support Intern will phone you at a pre-booked time between sessions. These may be booked on Jane.  You’ll be asked how you’re doing, what your primary challenge is, and support will be offered, such as active listening, emotional support, or practical support (not therapy).

HOW DO I GET STARTED

Tell your therapist that you’re interested in extra support between sessions and they can refer you to the Care Support Program.  Our Client Care Coordinators will contact you, send you a Care Support Consent form to complete, and they will either book you in with the Care Support Intern, or the Intern will reach out to you directly.
