ABOUT ME

As a psychotherapist at FreeMind Therapy I bring my 30 years experience into the therapy space, to learn who you are and discover what you need to truly reach your goals. If you’re feeling ‘stuck’, that’s okay. I am here to help you craft your therapy goals, so ultimately you can improve your quality of life.

If you’re navigating a time of transition in life, feeling stressed, anxious or just not yourself, I can help you find the path to clarity and ease. If it’s trauma or relationship issues that have brought you here, you’re in the right place. I support you in gaining a greater self-understanding by helping you identify patterns of thought and behaviour that have been blocking you from a fulfilling life.

Studies show that the most central factor that determines your success of therapy, is our therapeutic relationship – I therefore make it my priority to make you feel ‘seen’ in our sessions, using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach that puts you at the centre.

EXPERIENCE

I hold both a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor’s in Sociology from the University of British Columbia, as well as a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Calgary. My 30 years of experience in the field of mental health has given me a wide variety of experience that I bring to my work, including: healthcare, government, education and private practice.

My professional journey of becoming a therapist evolved naturally from my childhood, where I was exposed to ideals of social justice and humanitarianism early on. I have an insatiable curiosity about human nature and am honoured to walk alongside my clients, as they discover their strengths and learn to navigate life in a way that serves them well.

If you are considering therapy, it would be my honour to walk alongside you as you embark on a path of discovering yourself and what you need – for a truly fulfilling life.

MORE THAN JUST MY WORK . . .

As an avid believer in the importance of self-care and work-life balance, I have many interests outside of my professional life. Among these are my love of the outdoors and the wonderful benefits of running; as well as spoiling my wonderful canine companion with long walks in our beautiful river valley. I have a passion for books and enjoy discussing the latest novel with my book club friends; as well as getting out to listen to live jazz music whenever I can.

My favourite quote:  I now see how owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.”  – Brene Brown
